On Tuesday, November 10, we traveled down the road for a little more than an hour to Roanoke to learn and have fun at the Science Museum of Western Virginia. Check out the pictures and captions below to get a glimpse of our day!
On the way to the museum! We were all very excited!
First up: Our Dig It program where we learned all about fossils, casts, and more!
Each student got the chance to "dig" for 2 fossils, then ID them using similar fossils.
The Dig It teacher taught us all about animal, ocean, and plant fossils.
The kids are exploring the various fossils and casts.
After identifying the fossils each group member shared data about the type of fossil found so we could create a graph!
Checking out some cool creatures in the Live Animals section.
Petting horseshoe crabs in the Living River!
Exploring the weather station.
The game Mindball was a HIT!
This area as full of butterflies that had just hatched!
This butterfly was fearless!
The girls are holding out their hands and waiting patiently for a butterfly to land on them.
In the Open Lab to watch a few experiments.
These students are prepping an experiment to see if a balloon can be blown up without a mouth.
